Apple's Watch Series 11 Evaluation: Excellent Gesture Control and Extended Battery Performance

This latest smartwatch Series Eleven delivers the one thing many users truly desire from their wrist gadget: improved power endurance.

Otherwise, the new model functions as an immediate successor to the Series 10, maintaining similarity in design, proportions and functions, with the majority of its upgrades originating from software.

This new model is also priced £30 lower for UK customers, available from £369 (€449/399 dollars/A$679), positioned above the recently updated Watch SE at £219 at the low end alongside the £749 Ultra 3 in the premium segment.

Build and Interface

Like last year's Series 10, this updated version comes in at 9.7mm thick, resulting in a slim fit when worn, easy to sneak under cuffs and easier to wear during sleep.

The 2,000nit OLED screen remains sufficiently luminous for viewing indoors and out, remaining clear at various perspectives, which makes taking a peek to check time or notifications easy.

The surface features by glass that is twice as scratch resistant as before, though not quite as tough of sapphire crystal, which is reserved for the more expensive titanium versions.

Power and Endurance

The updated wearable incorporates identical S10 processor found in earlier versions but now supports cellular 5G capability and improved connectivity for those times away from civilization.

Energy storage show improvement in capacity significantly in the 42 millimeter and larger versions respectively.

Larger model lasted a good two days in our assessment featuring overnight analysis but without exercise.

Typical wearers will just about monitor 48 hours including sleep before needing a charge, which takes just over an hour with a 20-watt or more powerful adapter (sold separately), reaching approximately three-quarters charge in 30 minutes.

Should you participate in workouts, it will last approximately eight hours while recording, sufficient duration to complete marathons or extended activities.
