British Inflation Holds Unchanged at 3.8 Percent in August, Whilst Food Prices Keep Climbing for 5th Consecutive Month

According to recent official figures, the overall inflation rate in the United Kingdom remained unchanged at 3.8 percent during August. However, food prices persisted their rising trend for the fifth consecutive month.

Food inflation increased to an annual rate of 5.1 percent, up from 4.9 percent in July. This marks the fastest level since January 2024.

Items such as produce, milk, cheese, and seafood grew more expensive, whereas bread and fats experienced decreases.

Yet, dining and accommodation prices climbed by 3.8 percent year on year, compared to 3.4% in July. Fuel costs additionally increased slightly, contributing to overall consumer spending.
