Thousands Attend Pro-Palestinian Rallies as Coordinators Pledge to Continue Demonstrating

Numerous individuals gathered across Australia at rallies supporting Palestine, with coordinators pledging to persist in activism after a truce agreement brokered by Donald Trump in Gaza initially appeared to be holding.

Sydney Demonstration Attracts Many Participants

In Sydney, the pro-Palestine organization announced a crowd of 30,000 had marched from Hyde Park to another city park in the city center after a scheduled protest to the iconic venue was prohibited by the legal authorities last week.

NSW police estimated eight thousand participants joined the city demonstration, with a representative stating there had been "no significant incidents".

Australian Rallies Commemorate Date

Rallies were also conducted in southern city, Queensland's capital and Perth on Sunday to commemorate the ongoing situation after armed incidents on October 7th, 2023 killed about 1,200 people in Israel.

"Concerning the protest efforts, we'll certainly maintain to advocate for liberation... for local governance, for humanitarian assistance to enter and for Palestinians to be able to rebuild Gaza," commented a coordinator.

Mixed Reactions to Peace Deal

Various participants shared confidence that the agreement could establish stability. Others were sceptical of American participation and urged supporters to continue urging the Australian government to apply measures and end the trade in military goods.

One protester, a Palestinian Australian living in Sydney, said he desired the deal might enable him to bring his elderly mother, who is currently in the region without proper healthcare, to his current home, and to find and bury his sibling, his wife and their kids, who have been lost contact in 2023.

Jewish Community Holds Commemoration

Separately, many individuals joined a Jewish memorial service on the evening in the city's eastern areas to mark the second anniversary of 7 October. A participant, the relative of a victim, an national who was killed during the attacks, was arranged to talk.

There were wishes for quick release of 20 remaining hostages in the territory and those who lost their lives. The Israeli ambassador, Amir Maimon, recognized the resolve of survivors. The crowd booed when he referenced the national leader and the international relations official.

Maritime Protesters Share Experiences

Sydney's pro-Palestine rally earlier featured addresses including multiple nationals let go from imprisonment after the interception of the Sumud flotilla recently.

Surya McEwen, his arm in a sling after it was said to be harmed in an Israeli prison, told that not enough was known about the truce arrangement. International aid organisations, including relief organizations, were organizing to reach the region.

"Given the ongoing conditions where there's a severe and prohibited barrier on Gaza," said the activist, flotilla activists would continue to try to deliver aid by sea.

Another participant, who arrived home on Friday, gave an emotional speech sharing his captivity experience with numerous other individuals in a detention facility.

Official Comments

The political representative the politician informed attendees: "We must not allow a situation where American leadership shapes the future of the Palestinian people to be the nature of existence we tolerate."

A different coordinator who submitted the original application to demonstrate at the famous location maintained that the protesters could have safely headed to the iconic waterfront location. The senior police representative had previously stated the legal authority that the arrangement appeared dangerous.

The organiser commented during the protest: "Every single time the law enforcement seeks to prevent our protests or legal challenges, it increases community attention... to the need to mobilise and resist these measures."
